
The majority of a Moroccan woman’s daily activities involve weaving blankets and rugs in the Atlas Mountains. Living in the mountains is quite difficult, particularly during the winter when there is a lot of snowfall every day. For many years, this way of life has forced Atlas women to make their own blankets, kilims, and carpets in order to withstand the bitterly cold months. at order to raise more money for meeting other food needs, the surplus woven textile is sold at the weekly souks. For the women of the Atlas Mountains, rug weaving was therefore essential, and they were always enhancing the design and quality to be competitive and have a piece of the local market. Women weavers created the Atlas Mountains rug’s design. always incorporate symbols from the natural world and animals that live in the highlands on a regular basis. Similar to Aunty Yetto, a large number of women in the atlas are now linked to the productivity and teamwork required in the marketplaces.
